Not every home in the forest is guaranteed to have water. Indeed, it can be a real issue in New Mexico. At Hidden Lake, there have been dry holes at some of the higher lots. While water is probably available, it was simply out of reach for the equipment used by the local drillers.

The well in this property is drilled to 750 feet. The 1-1/2h.p. pump is installed at 650 feet and water was around 500 feet when the well was last checked. The water flow rate was not checked by the driller at more than 5 gallons per minute, so the actual flow, while probably more than that, is unknown. The house was host to 13 people during Christmas of its first year, and water was never a problem, nor has it been since. The well pressure tank and controller are located in the wood shop in an insulated, heated room.
